Made-To-Measure: An Ode to Bespoke Craftsmanship

Some crafts are not taught, they are inherited through generations of hands that know fabric before they know words.

Galeries Lafayette Mumbai welcomed a rare lineage of such craftsmen with the Made-to-Measure showcase at its Kala Ghoda flagship from 4th to 6th September. The exclusive space brought master tailors from Lardini, Van Laack, Jacob Cohën and 100 Hands to India.

This level of craftsmanship is preserved by a rare group of artisans worldwide, and hosting a select few in-store offered a first-hand encounter with true heritage, from Lardini’s storied Italian tailoring to Jacob Cohën’s reinvention of denim as a luxury craft, Van Laack’s century-old shirt-making expertise and 100 Hands’ entirely hand-finished construction.

Across the exclusive three-day experience, we moved through the nuances of M-T-M tailoring, from fabric selection and proportion to construction and precision fitting, each consultation led one-on-one with the visiting master tailors. Led with a distinct sartorial approach, the service placed the wearer at the centre of the process, bringing a highly personal dimension to menswear – a wardrobe made not just for you, but by design, with you.
