Là Fuori makes more than just good-looking clothes
Là Fuori is a beautiful juxtaposition of a fashion label. On one hand, the New York-based design house, that launched in 2019, boasts the sexiest party dresses, steeped in a tapestry of beads, crystals and sequins that are a no brainer for cocktail parties. On the other, it’s a serious promoter of ethical practices, without sacrificing the makings of beautiful products. Founders Vidur Adalkha and Riccardo Bennidini were clear on giving the modern woman fashion-forward and visually attractive pieces—with the promise that they don’t cost the earth, literally.
After studying at NIFT Mumbai and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, Adalkha returned home to India and worked in a factory, handling accounts for Anne Taylor and Tory Burch. Burch’s team took an interest in him and Adalkha started working with the brand’s NYC team. Then came stints at Costco and Walmart—all of which gave him an insight into the surplus of stock created by brands, that would eventually be discarded. An avid shopper, Adalkha also noticed the lack of great, affordable product in inclusive sizes. He set out to be the change.
Today, in an industry where greenwashing is rampant, Là Fuori gives the consumer transparency in its entire production cycle and offers custom sizing at no additional cost. But ultimately, it’s really the exquisite clothes that come out winning. Embroidery and embellishment used in the most eye-catching manner for head-turning pieces. Short dresses that are meant for dance floors and maxis that weave stories as the drape drops. That each ensemble is backed by a powerful India narrative makes it even more compelling. Adalkha has his own factory in the country and works closely with local artisans to keep alive dying crafts. But instead of utilising Indian craftsmanship in a formulaic manner, the designer’s taken it across the globe to dress up every modern woman of today. The result is a burgeoning fashion powerhouse that’s ready to take on every dance floor in the world.
