The Art of Mosaico: A Serapian Story

Some signatures are instantly recognisable. For Serapian, it is Mosaico.

Created in 1947 by Stefano Serapian, the technique has remained one of the Maison’s most recognisable expressions for almost 80 years. Strips of precious lamb nappa are delicately handwoven to create a texture that sits somewhere between Byzantine mosaics and Japanese origami. Every Mosaico bag carries the signature of the artisan who crafted it, making the story of each piece as much about the hands behind it as the design itself.

On October 16, Serapian: A Leather Atelier Experience comes to Galeries Lafayette Mumbai, offering an intimate encounter with the Maison’s Mosaico craft. Across curated sessions, guests can discover Serapian’s history and weaving technique, followed by a closer look at the craft through an interaction with a leather artisan.

The experience also brings Serapian’s bespoke approach into focus, with personalised creations and combinations of Mosaico colours forming part of the Maison’s offering. At its heart is the craft itself: precious leather, handwoven technique and the artisan’s signature, all coming together in Serapian’s distinctive Mosaico creations.
